Ministry of Investment Visit to PT Global Papua Abadi Sugarcane Plantation to Review Sugar & Bioethanol in Merauke, Papua

Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia visited Merauke, South Papua, on Friday, 17 May 2024 to review the progress of the district’s Acceleration of Sugar Self-Sufficiency and Bioethanol projects.

As Chairman of the Sugar and Bioethanol Self-Sufficiency Task Force, Minister Bahlil conducted a number of agendas in Merauke, including a review of the sugar cane plantation area managed by PT Global Papua Abadi. As well as visiting the TC Laboratory, Green House, Variety Experimental Garden covering an area of 5 hectares.

The sugarcane plantation managed by PT Global Papua Abadi covering an area of 506 hectares with an investment value of IDR 53.8 trillion, is a National Strategic Project (PSN) which is a continuation of the Food Estate programme to support the acceleration of national sugar self-sufficiency and bioethanol as biofuel.
